john boehner seems to care more about keeping his speakership than keeping the nation on firm financial footing it is obvious, mr. president, what is going on around here. he is waiting to january 3rd to get re-elected as speaker before he gets serious with negotiations because he has so many people over there that won't follow what he wants, that's obvious from the debacle that takes place last week and it was a debacle. he made an offer to the president. the president came back, they are just a little bit ap he walked away from that and went to plan b. but -- which all you did is whack people who need help the most. poor people. and he couldn't even pass that. remember, he is not letting the house of representatives vote, he is letting the republicans vote. it was so bad, he was in such difficult shape there he wouldn't even allow a vote to take with his republicans because he knew he would lose. for months, he has allowhood house republicans to hold middle class taxpayers hostage to protect the richest 2% and the funny part about that, mr. president, the 2% don't want to be protected

does john boehner need nancy pelosi in order to get anything passed? >> reporter: yes, absolutely. no question about it. that became incredibly obvious when he couldn't even get his own republicans to effectively save them from themselves and at least have some political cover by voting to keep tax cuts in place for everybody except millionaires because they said they wouldn't help him with what they call a political ploy. i think that's true but actually talking to people on both sides of the aisle here, because the ball is now in the senate -- the senate's court, the feeling is that if they can kind of break the dam in the senate and if something actually passes, you've already seen over the past two days house republicans saying that they hadn't said before, if the senate passes something, we'll take it up. and if that's the case, the sort of betting is that with the help of the majority of the democrats, probably most of the democrats and maybe, you know, a few dozen or more republicans, that's how it would get passed. but, candy, it's still a big if, as we just witnessed, whet

as john has been saying, that's the biggest risk factor to look that. he gave that and he expected, his caucus expected a on the from the president. he didn't get any 2013 or '14 real spending cuts. they got long-term promises, most people in washington won't be in office in ten years. that's the sticking point. it comes down to medicare, spending cuts 2013, 2014. you have to trade what i've been saying of the last month. i've been buying on the moments of fear, receiving the rallies. ill think we're going to get a deal but you have to trade around that. >> let's hone in on that. let's say december 31st passes, we're there january 1st, january 2nd is the first trading day, market participants can react to what is a lack of news. they are working in washington to get a deal together, is that going to be an inflection point of fear in the markets? >> just before, as we saw today, probably going to have one more of those moments of fear and then we're going to get a 30 to 40-yard punt. and it's going to be a deal without an extension of the debt ceiling. s
